Newtown to lead mid wales into the Digital Television Future

24th November 2006

Wrights Radio Relay, Newtown's cable television supplier is pleased to be able to confirm that they have successfully added the signals needed to provide digital television to customers of the service they operate, and hope to be in a position to make these available to customers early in 2007.

In order to use the new digital service you will need to have either a digital ready TV or a Freeview set top box, and a special converter that will only be available from Wrights Radio.

The new digital service will cost the same as our existing analogue service, just £37 and will provide the same line up of channels that are available on the freeview service that is available in other areas of the country.

Unlike the rest of Mid Wales, the introduction of digital does not mean that you have to switch, it is purely an additional option for those who want a greater choice of channels. We are also committed to continue providing our current analogue service for those that wish to use it beyond the government set switchover date in 2010.

With the introduction of digital television throughout the UK we are concerned that people are still being badly advised and are purchasing sets that will be obsolete in the near future, and urge anyone buying a new television to ensure that is has a “Digital Tuner” and carries the “Digital Tick logo”

Wrights Radio Relay have recently achieved “Approved Digital Advisor” status from Digital UK for being able to offer impartial advice to consumers confused by the introduction of Digital TV.
